FTA pioneers training scheme for Dairy Crest with further education provider
Friday 20 January 2012
Dairy Crest employees will benefit from high quality apprenticeship training in a unique government-funded scheme developed by Freight Transport Association and Mansfield-based college, Vision West Notts.
Under the leading dairy food company’s National Logistics Apprenticeship Programme, employees will undertake apprenticeship schemes delivered by the college, and Certificate of Professional Competence training from FTA’s dedicated training team.
Isobel Harding, FTA’s National Training Manager, said:
"This partnership is a real first for the UK, the innovative framework allowing Dairy Crest to develop its staff through real career progression routing.
"Dairy Crest’s commitment to invest in its people means that staff of whatever level and age will benefit from meaningful, high-quality training and clear opportunities for career advancement."
Thirty-seven staff – comprised of trainee traffic office and warehouse managers, logistics operators and new starters – will begin training at Vision West Notts in 2012.
Harding concluded:
"We are delighted to be a partner in this project which we hope will become a blueprint from which others can develop their transport managers of the future."
