Minister to address transport seminar as big freeze threatens Scotland

Thursday 22 September 2011

Keith Brown MSP, Transport Minister, will be speaking at a Freight Transport Association seminar for transport managers which will take place on Tuesday 1 November at the Dunblane Hydro Hotel, in Dunblane.

Mr Brown will address delegates on a range of issues affecting transport operators in Scotland, particularly severe winter weather and what can be done to prevent a repeat of last winter’s transport disruption, and what the transport industry itself can do to help keep things moving; and on winter road safety matters generally, including the subject of winter tyres. The minister will also talk about future transport infrastructure investment in Scotland, including plans for the new Forth Crossing.

Chris MacRae, FTA’s Head of Policy for Scotland and seminar chairman said:

“This is a must-attend event for anyone running a transport fleet in Scotland, especially at this time of the year with preparation for winter in mind and an early freeze already being forecast. The event will arm Scottish transport managers with everything they need to prepare themselves for the coming 12 months.”

FTA’s Transport Manager seminars, supported by leading tyre manufacturer Goodyear and one of the world’s leading energy providers Shell, arms transport managers with the tools they need to meet the challenges of an increasingly pressured environment in which their role is often changing.

The seminar series, which kicked off last week and tours the UK until the end of November, has already received ringing endorsements from attendees, with 98 per cent of those surveyed saying they would definitely attend again.
