Logistics UK Transport Manager conference series celebrates silver anniversary

Friday 04 July 2025

Logistics UK’s annual Transport Manager conference series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, having provided best-in-industry advice and guidance for fleet professionals for the past quarter of a century. Returning with a new conference programme, in-person appearances by the Traffic Commissioners and presentations by industry expert speakers, Transport Manager 2025 is the must-attend event for compliance and transport managers.

Taking place across 10 different locations in the UK as well as online, Transport Manager 2025 will offer  attendees a compliance-centric and diverse programme, including all the latest information and guidance on industry legislation to help attendees manage the safety and compliance of their transport operation.

Turning the clock back to 2001 when the inaugural Transport Manager took place on 3 October at Gatwick, Apple was putting the finishing touches to the first iPod, the first Harry Potter film was due to be released and earlier in the year Wikipedia had been launched.

The logistics sector itself was dealing with the rise of e-commerce and rethinking the challenge of ‘last mile logistics’, and fleet management technology such as GPS and telematics was beginning to see widespread adoption. Looking forward to the next 25 years, 2050 is the year the UK is legally bound to achieve net zero and the intention is for all new HGVs to have been zero emission at the tailpipe for the previous ten years.

“The next 25 years are clearly going to be as exciting and challenging as the previous 25,” commented Logistics UK’s Acting Chief Executive Kevin Green, “and we’re delighted that our Transport Manager conference series has been helping vehicle fleets stay safe and compliant for a quarter of a century.”

With attendance counting towards transport managers’ continuous professional development (CPD), supporting their commitment as a transport professional, the conferences always attract a huge number of delegates; a record of nearly 2,000 attended last year’s events.

The Transport Manager 2025 programme includes:

  • A view from the Traffic Commissioner on priorities for the year ahead.
  • Compliance updates.
  • Mock HSE investigation.
  • Best practice in preventative maintenance from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
  • Future of the operator licensing system.
  • Updates from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
  • Essential elements of successful driver management.
  • Crime and theft in commercial transport.

Logistics UK’s Member Advice Centre (MAC) will provide an essential legislative roundup and technical update highlighting the main topics on the horizon that managers need to be aware of to ensure the safety, compliance and efficiency of their organisation, and MAC advisors will be on hand throughout the day to discuss legislation and compliance issues.

Transport Manager 2025 will be touring the UK from September to December and Mr Green outlines the benefits of attending, “Keeping up to date on compliance changes and staying informed on developments in the industry are vital for transport managers so they can excel in their role, and attending one of these events counts towards transport managers’ CPD requirements. With a packed schedule of top-quality speakers, we’re looking forward to another highly successful Transport Manager series this year and for the next twenty-five years.”
