Logistics UK takes VIS training to new heights with Renault Trucks

Friday 26 March 2021

To ensure that the organisation’s Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) continues to offer a market leading service for its members, Logistics UK recently teamed up with Renault Trucks to use its world-class vehicles in technical inspection training for its VIS engineers. Held at the Woodland Grange Conference Centre in Royal Leamington Spa, the training session formed part of Logistics UK’s’ commitment to continuous professional improvement for its staff, ensuring customers receive the best possible service and the highest standards of safety are maintained.

Mick Parcell, Head of VIS Health & Safety and Engineering Improvement at Logistics UK, comments: “Logistics UK’s VIS is always striving to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the service we offer to our customers. We were delighted to work in collaboration with the team at Renault Trucks on this training project and we thank them greatly for the loan of their vehicles. Our aim is to ensure that safety, quality and consistency remain at the forefront of the VIS team’s activities, enabling our highly qualified and experienced engineers – who all hold irtec qualifications and are members of the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers) – to continue to deliver an exceptional service to all customers.”

Alex Williams, Head of Brand & Communications at Renaults Trucks, comments: “Due to the training taking place in Warwickshire – not too far away from both our head office and the Renault Truck Commercials dealer point in Nuneaton – we were delighted to be able to assist Logistics UK with two T460s from our Used Trucks by Renault Truck selection to support the delivery of its VIS training programme.”

Chris Lipscomb, Director of Operations at Logistics UK, adds: “It is essential for the safe and efficient inspection of vehicles that engineers are trained regularly and their competency assessed; this has been a great opportunity to work in partnership with Renault Trucks to achieve this aim.”

The vehicles were used for ‘topside’ and ‘underside’ procedural inspection training for area and senior engineers, with a view to rolling out familiarisation training to the wider inspection team imminently.

The Logistics UK VIS team of engineers covers the UK and Republic of Ireland and works with some of the biggest names in logistics across a wide range of industry sectors such as retail, construction and 3PL (third party logistics) operations.  It also provides this service to many small and medium-sized enterprises.  VIS’ wide range and type of vehicle inspections are carried out on everything from vans and heavy goods vehicles to buses and specialist lifting equipment.  All the inspections are accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
