FTA has strengthened its membership support team with the appointment of Ray Marshall as Senior Transport Advisor within the Member Advice Centre (MAC).
As part of the expert team within the MAC, Marshall will respond to member enquiries on road transport compliance and operation on a day to day basis, by phone, letter, e-mail and face-to-face meetings. In addition, his new role includes providing regular updates for FTA’s compliance guides and the FTA Yearbook of Road Transport Law, as well as providing regular contributions to the Compliance Advice section in FTA’s membership magazine, Freight & Logistics.
Previously, Marshall was an Operations Manager for a large removals and storage company based in Leamington Spa and brings 18 years of experience in logistics, distribution and warehousing to the role.
A unique membership benefit, FTA’s MAC is a dedicated service which provides expert advice and answers on member questions on legal and operational matters, from drivers' hours and working time through to vehicle maintenance standards and current legislation. The MAC allows FTA’s members to stay ahead of new legislation and allows them to implement best practice across their operations.
“Ray’s broad range of experience and willingness to hunt out the answers to complex queries makes him an ideal addition to our team of transport advisors,” says Ian Gallagher, Head of Compliance Information. “The MAC is an invaluable benefit to many of our 17,000 members, and his appointment will boost the team on site to ensure that we can continue to provide a service that keeps our members’ businesses moving throughout the year. It’s great to have him on board.”
Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to Government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.
