Out and about & in the mix
A snapshot of where the Logistics UK policy team has been and who they've seen in the past week.
- Logistics UK's Senior Policy Manager Stephanie Haszczyn and Chris Yarsley, Logistics UK's Senior Policy Manager - Road Freight Regulation were invited to a site visit of Cross River Partnership's Waterloo Freight Hub on Friday 23rd May. The hub, which is still in its trial phase, plays a vital role in the wider vision to decarbonise freight across Britain, whilst promoting zero emission last mile delivery. Steph and Chris had the opportunity to see the hub in action, and hear about future plans for the project.

Waterloo visit
- Logistics UK's Operating Light Commercial Vehicles Conference took place and was very well attended.
- Member meetings and MAC member briefings continued, in Wales, the South West, the South East and East of England. New members were in attendance.
- Ben Garratt, Logistics UK's Deputy Director - Public Affairs attended the CBI Trade Association Council meeting, with discussions covering the economy, the Employment Rights Bill, US tariffs and investment plans.

Chris Yarsley at Waterloo visit
- Ben Garratt attended a Fuels Industry UK event on low carbon fuels with Minister Mike Kane.
- Logistics UK's Head of Decarbonisation Policy Lamech Solomon presented Logistics UK's position on low carbon fuels at the Zemo Partnership Low Carbon Fuel Working Group.
- Nichola Mallon, Logistics UK's Head of Trade and Devolved Policy chaired Logistics UK's Shippers' Council, with guest speakers from MDS Transmodal.

- Ben Garratt attended a Robert Wynn & Sons Parliamentary reception, where Logistics UK's Director of Operations Chris Lipscomb gave a speech on the importance of inland waterways and coastal shipping.
- Logistics UK's Head of Skills Policy and Generation Logistics Bethany Windsor met with other trade associations for the first time as part of a new heavy goods vehicles skills group, which will meet once a month to check alignment on policy asks.

News In Brief
Member alert: A3 closures in both directions in June and July
National Highways will be closing the A3 in both directions between the M25 junction 10 Wisley Interchange and the Painshill roundabout at Cobham over two full weekends in June and July to enable them to safely install a gantry and to build the new Redhill Road bridleway bridge over the A3.
The closures will take place:
- From 9:00pm Friday 20 June to 6:00am Monday 23 June 2025
- From 9:00pm Friday 4 July to 6:00am on Monday 7 July 2025
