Scottish Parliament roundtable on logistics decarbonisation
Logistics UK held a roundtable on logistics decarbonisation and modal shift in Scotland on 22 February, chaired by Edward Mountain MSP, Convenor of the Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee. The event was attended by logistics and energy businesses and MSPs: Douglas Lumsden, Brian Whittle and Jamie Halcro Johnston.
During the meeting, businesses highlighted that logistics underpins the Scottish economy and is one of Scotland’s largest sectors and employers.
“Attendees recognised that logistics has a key role to play in achieving Scotland’s net zero goals,” said Alexandra Herdman, Senior Policy Manager at Logistics UK, “and that the country needs a just transition to a green economy, with the costs of low carbon fuels, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure currently too high.
“Participants also agreed that logistics decarbonisation will take a variety of approaches, as logistics is a system comprised of multiple transport modes and infrastructure types,” continued Mrs Herdman.
“To achieve this transition, the logistics sector needs to have a seat at the table as it creates opportunities to unlock green investment in Scotland.
“The sector also shared its disappointment that the Scottish government plans to suspend its contribution to Mode Shift Revenue Support.”

Cranleigh Freight Services expands fleet with Krone trailers
Cranleigh Freight Services (CFS), one of south-east England's leading logistics providers, has added three Krone Profi Liner curtainsiders to its fleet to meet growing demand for its UK and European general haulage operations.
"Krone trailers have a very good name for being robust and reliable, their reputation precedes them,” said Will Porter, fleet manager at Cranleigh Freight.
“On top of that, Krone UK was able to offer us competitive pricing and good lead times.
"Their after-sales service has also been excellent. If we need anything our workshop manager just pings an email to Krone UK, and we get the parts within a couple of days. They haven't missed a beat."
