New truckstop in Tilbury sets the benchmark

Logistics UK has long been calling for more comprehensive provision for the UK’s HGV drivers, so we are pleased to announce that a new truckstop opened last week in Tilbury: at a location with huge demand less than two miles from Tilbury dock and right on the doorstep of Tilbury2.

Open 24/7 and conveniently located just off the A1089 at RM18 7NH, the Goldstar Tilbury Truck Stop offers “an inviting and secure environment for truck drivers to rest and recharge”.

With a perimeter fence, manned security, Gatehouse, CCTV and lighting towers it offers a secure parking option within short reach of the A13 and M25.

“On the back of the Better Breaks, Safer Stops campaign in 2021, we are fully aware of the lack and quality of facilities at many of the country’s parking areas,” said Goldstar General Manager, Steve Jones. “That’s why we have invested in brand new welfare facilities and we are proud of the offerings to the drivers using the facilities. There is a caterer on site and drivers are able to access hot food between 2pm and 7pm every day.

“The feedback so far has been well received and we have had some positive comments from the drivers on site,” Jones continues. “We have created a separate area for reefer parking on the back of requests and we will continue to listen to feedback we receive going forward.”

Jonathan Walker, Head of Cities and Infrastructure at Logistics UK, adds: “The new Tilbury truckstop is a welcome addition to the UK transport framework and a solid benchmark for more of the same. Alongside our members, we will continue to push for more facilities for the UK logistics workforce.”
