News In Brief

Update to DVSA’s roadside prohibition notifications

The tool used by DVSA roadside enforcement to record vehicle encounters is being updated.

From 18 June 2025, prohibition notifications will be received by email instead of by post where operator licences have an email address recorded. Operators that do not have an email address recorded will continue to receive letters to their business address.

The email will include all the information usually included in the letter. The aim of this change is to make the process quicker, more efficient and more environmentally friendly.

Physical prohibitions will still be issued at the roadside and clearance notices will be received by post.
