To help address the current recruitment crisis, Logistics UK will be holding a member briefing on Tuesday 13 July, in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Education (DfE). This will outline the options open to operators looking to recruit and train for key logistics roles, with a particular emphasis on HGV drivers.

Presenting details on the support and schemes that are already available, Alex Farkas (DWP) and Toni Moore (DfE) will explain the important role that their respective government departments can play in helping address the driver shortage and supporting domestic recruitment into the sector.

The Accessing funding for logistics skills webinar aims to help Logistics UK members gain a working knowledge of the DWP and DfE schemes and services available to them, and help them attract jobseekers into secure employment in logistics.

“We are delighted to be working with DWP and DfE on this important initiative,” said Alex Veitch, General Manager – Public Policy, Logistics UK. “Both government departments have proved themselves committed to challenging popular misconceptions about logistics and to promoting the sector as an attractive place to work for a diverse range of candidates. Logistics UK will be running joint communications campaigns with DfE and DWP, utilising their popular digital channels and extensive JobCentre Plus network.”
