Member alert: Do you have a superstar apprentice?

Apprentices bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to businesses and are an invaluable resource for the logistics industry and, as National Apprenticeship week approaches, Logistics UK would like to hear your case studies!

The studies will be used for inclusion in upcoming media work, to showcase the opportunities which exist within the sector: please email: press.office@logistics.org.uk.

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) will take place between 10 and 16 February, and the DfT is also encouraging businesses and other organisations to share their experiences of working with apprentices, by sending them to: industryliaison@dft.gov.uk

NAW will highlight how apprenticeships are an excellent option to consider for young people wishing to start a career, for employees looking to progress in their current role or retrain for a new career, or for employers needing to fill skills gaps to help grow their business.

News In Brief

Logistics UK Freight Councils get underway

Central to Logistics UK’s democratic structure, the policy positions adopted by Logistics UK are determined by the members of its Councils. Over 300 managers and leaders from across road freight regularly attend Logistics UK’s Freight Councils throughout the UK.

Logistics UK local policy councils convene three times a year across the country and all members are invited to attend, offering them the chance to:

  • Learn about policies being proposed by UK, regional and local government and their agencies and the implications of these for logistics operations – aimed at helping future-proof members’ operations.
  • Help decide Logistics UK’s response to proposals – ensuring the needs of members’ companies are taken into consideration in what we say.
  • Network with peers in the industry, discussing topics ranging from key and operational issues to national transport policy matters.

These policy pouncils meet in locations across the UK. Nominated members are then able to participate in the UK-level Road Council.  There are also Air, Rail, Water and Shippers Councils that all members can join, as well as our Working Groups.
