Logistics UK gives evidence to the Transport Select Committee on the Future of Transport Data

During a session of the Transport Select Committee on the Future of Transport Data, MPs heard from Logistics UK Deputy Director – Public Affairs Ben Garratt, Maritime UK Chief Executive Chris Shirling-Rooke MBE and RailX Chairman Steve Freeman.

The session explored the opportunity for data and technology to enhance the logistics sector. It was also highlighted that data-led approaches have created efficiencies, higher standards, and lower carbon emissions within the sector.

“The logistics sector is highly data driven, employing data-led approaches to drive efficiency, customer service, safety and emissions reduction, says Ben Garratt. “With the right data-led partnerships between the sector and government, a wealth of further benefits can be derived, supporting the optimisation of journeys as well as improved long-term infrastructure planning.”

UK Civil Aviation Authority publishes progress report on last August’s air traffic control failure

An interim report, prepared by an Independent Review Panel into the air traffic control failure on 28 August 2023, has been published.

In this report, the Independent Panel notes that it has made good progress, particularly in respect of understanding the cause of the failure, but that other factors require further evidence and investigation, including communications around the incident, the incentive regime for investment and the response by the aviation system.

These, along with the recommendations, will be addressed in the Independent Panel’s final report, which is expected to be published later this year.
