Logistics UK queries readiness for EES in the Lords

As the deadline for the phased introduction of the European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES) approaches in October 2025, Baroness Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson in the Lords asked a question proposed by Logistics UK about the system’s readiness for deployment. The Baroness asked the Transport Minister Lord Hendy to confirm “What measures they are taking to prevent the introduction of the European Union’s Entry/Exit System causing transport congestion and disruption to freight?” Minister Hendy responded that the government is working with French counterparts to mitigate disruption, including by exploring options for pre-registration and encouraging the development and adoption of an app to enable this.

Ben Garratt, Logistics UK’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs commented: “Managing the introduction of EES without causing harmful delays to supply chains will be a significant challenge. It is positive to hear the Minister acknowledge the role government has to play in mitigating this.”

In the run up to the system’s introduction, Logistics UK has been working closely with policy makers on both sides of the Channel to ensure that delays to logistics movements can be minimised.
