Discover Logistics Careers campaign to offer employers downloadable toolkits

Logistics UK’s Discover Logistics Careers campaign, which is being publicised via The Sun on Sunday newspaper, will be offering a downloadable toolkit providing a range of resources to help employers get involved.

The toolkit will offer employers help with communicating their message via the local press and social media channels.

The campaign has already attracted widespread interest across the industry, with hundreds of employers having visited the campaign website, and well-known retailers signing up to get involved.

The Discover Logistics Careers weekend, running from 29 October to 1 November 2021, will encourage logistics businesses across the UK to open their doors and invite local people into their businesses to talk about the jobs they offer.

As well as being backed by a national newspaper, the campaign is also supported by the Department for Work and Pensions, which will be highlighting the events to all its visitors. Minister for Employment Mims Davies MP said: “I’m delighted DWP is supporting Logistics UK’s campaign and helping get the word out about the diverse range of careers and local opportunities on offer across the sector. Through our Plan for Jobs and in Jobcentres up and down the country, we’re supporting jobseekers to develop the skills and qualifications they need to take up these roles.”

Alex Veitch, General Manager – Public Policy, Logistics UK, said: “Given the severe skills shortages we are currently experiencing in the logistics sector, this campaign is a positive move for businesses that wish to showcase the jobs and career paths they can offer at a local level. I look forward to working with our members to demonstrate the sheer breadth of opportunities available and show what it means to work within this rewarding and essential industry.”
