Launch of Generation Logistics Ambassador programme
Phil Roe, President of Logistics UK, announced the launch of the Generation Logistics Ambassador Network at the Logistics Awards last week (8 December 2022).
“We all know that logistics is a fantastic career, all of us in this room are testament to that,” he said, “But actually, to get the new generation involved, nobody wants to hear that from the older generation like myself. And so we need to talk to potential recruits in a language that they use, reflect a workforce that looks like them.”
Roe then welcomed Bethany Windsor (pictured above), Head of Programmes at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), to the stage to explain the scheme a little further.
“The Generation Logistics Ambassador Network brings together a group of real people talking about real jobs with real passion, acting as a nationwide force for the promotion of the logistics profession,” she said, “Through schools, colleges, events, both virtual and physical and beyond, our ambassadors showcase all that is wonderful about the world of logistics, encouraging particularly younger people to consider the sector as one of first choice when thinking about their future.”
To support the growth of this network, and increase the reach of the Generation Logistics campaign, Windsor is asking industry professionals to volunteer and to help position logistics as a fast-paced, well-paid, future-focused profession to entice the next generation.
“Becoming an ambassador is open to anyone with any experience, from any background, or from any job family,” Windsor said, “So please do get in touch to find out how you and your colleagues can help develop Generation Logistics.”
If you would like to get involved and find out how you and your colleagues can attract the next generation, please contact Bethany Windsor at CILT.
