Global Week of Action by climate protest groups

Please be advised that a number of climate protest groups, including Extinction Rebellion (XR), have indicated an intention to conduct a ‘Global Week of Action’ with the objective of “holding the insurance industry accountable for its role in the climate crisis.”

Events are scheduled to take place between Monday 26 February 2024 and Sunday 3 March 2024.
The City of London area has been specifically named as being a target location for protest activity to take place, given the presence of many national and international companies within the insurance industry.

A significant and robust policing operation is being planned by the City of London Police in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Service, to ensure an appropriate and proportionate response to any protest activity.

For the duration of the relevant week, an increased policing presence will be visible in the area.
It is expected that the “height of action” is likely to take place on 27 and 28 February and those days may see more significant protest activity, with ensuing disruption to traffic and transit times.
