DfT launches campaign to update logistics businesses on new rules
The Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a communications campaign to ensure that logistics businesses and HGV drivers are aware of the actions they will need to take before the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.
The campaign urges hauliers and commercial drivers who operate in the EU to get their new paperwork prepared ahead of the change in rules on 1 January 2021.
Irrespective of whether or not a trade deal with the EU is agreed in time, UK hauliers will need to ensure that they have new documentation to cross the border and operate in the EU, and they may require new vehicle and driver documentation, and will also be reliant on traders to provide them with correct customs documentation.
DfT will be promoting its campaign across multiple channels, including radio, billboard posters, press advertising, digital, social media, ad-vans and Brexit Information and Advice Centres at motorway services, the first five of which have opened in locations across the UK.
