Logistics UK discusses key issues with Scottish Parliament

Nichola Mallon, Logistics UK’s Head of Trade and Devolved Policy, met with the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee in the Scottish Parliament on 2 May to give evidence on behalf of the logistics industry.

“Logistics UK raised a range of issues including the Windsor Framework, the Border Target Operating Model, the review of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the urgent need for a solution to the shortage of crew servicing GB-NI ferry services,” said Mallon.

“We also emphasised the importance of an upgrade to the A75 and provision of parking facilities given its importance to trade between Northern Ireland, Scotland and wider GB. It was a great opportunity for Logistics UK to highlight the key issues facing our members and solutions to tackling barriers to trade.

"I’d like to thank the Scottish Parliament for its ongoing interest and commitment to such critical issues impacting our industry.”

How Maersk is shaping the digital border of the future for ‘frictionless trade’

Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk is working on shaping the digital border of the future to enable frictionless trade.

It is testing a potential future border model that facilitates trade through advanced sharing of digital data. This involves collaboration with various partners like Hutchison Ports, Port of Felixstowe, Maritime Cargo Processing, and others.

The goal is to make supply chain visibility and trust more transparent, thereby reducing trade friction and promoting global trade.
