Minister for the Future of Roads addresses Generation Logistics Week
Generation Logistics celebrated its third year with a Parliamentary reception on 25 June which highlighted the campaign’s success in reshaping perceptions of logistics and inspiring the next generation to join the sector.
The reception was hosted by Freight and Logistics All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Chair Rachel Taylor MP, addressed by Minister for the Future of Roads Lilian Greenwood, and attended by young professionals, industry leaders and other Parliamentarians, including Shadow Transport and Business and Trade Minister Greg Smith MP.

Transport Minister Lilian Greenwood praised the campaign for “opening doors to an often-misunderstood sector” and reaffirmed the government’s support through the new Freight and Logistics Plan. Rachel Taylor MP celebrated the inclusion of logistics in the Industrial Strategy, and three young professionals shared their experiences to inspire others. Generation Logistics Executive Sponsor Phil Roe set out how, through industry collaboration, the campaign is playing a key role building the resilience of the UK’s supply chains.

London Lorry Control Scheme restrictions amended for zero-emission vehicles from 1 July 2025
London Councils, the organisation that coordinates the actions of the 31 London boroughs and the City of London, has issued a formal notice to amend the traffic regulation order that governs the London Lorry Control Scheme to allow an extra weight allowance for zero-emission vehicles.
The restrictions on vehicle movements at night and weekends apply to vehicles greater than 18 tonnes but the new order will grant an exemption from the access restrictions for two-axle zero-emission vehicles not exceeding 20 tonnes.

The order came into force Tuesday 1 July.
