Month in the media – June 2022
The high cost of fuel, the Transport Select Committee’s report into Road Freight Supply Chains and the Northern Ireland Protocol have all featured prominently in the headlines over the past month, thanks to the hard work of Logistics UK’s media team, which has been working hard to ensure the views of members are heard on these – and other – issues.
The team achieved 368 items of media coverage between 29 May and 28 June, creating the opportunity for over 41 million people to see Logistics UK and its messages.

A live interview took place with Jeremy Kyle on TalkTV on the high price of fuel, with an excerpt subsequently being broadcast on talkRADIO, talkSPORT and Times Radio news bulletins. Interviews also took place on BBC Radio Ulster's Good Morning Ulster programme and BBC Radio Foyle's Breakfast Show regarding the impact on hauliers and the economy of high fuel prices.
LOGISTICS REPORT LAUNCH
David Wells was interviewed at length on LBC News following the launch of the Logistics Report 2022. The report has also been widely covered in the trade press.
GENERATION LOGISTICS LAUNCH
Launched to the trade press at Multimodal earlier this month, there has already been a great deal of interest in the launch of the Generation Logistics campaign to promote careers in and change perceptions of the logistics sector, with more than 50 items of coverage placed in the trade press so far.
THE MONTH AHEAD
The press team will be focussing on editorial stories on operating costs, in particular the high cost of fuel, and preparing for the publication of various Logistics UK reports including the next Skills and Employment Update and the summary findings of the Logistics Performance Tracker survey. The team will also be preparing for the launch of the Generation Logistics campaign to a consumer audience at the end of July, with a particular focus on 18–25-year-olds. In addition, they will continue to promote Logistics UK’s forthcoming events programme, particularly the 2022 Transport Manager conference series, the Logistics Awards and the Van Awards.
Have you got a story? If you are keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from Brexit readiness to skills shortages, urban restrictions to future logistics – or to shout about some of the great work your organisation is doing, we would love to hear from you. We are also keen to hear from those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe moving a very unusual load, staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise. And as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press. Please contact Eleanor, Freya or Jackie in the media team at press.office@logistics.org.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!
