Logistics businesses invited to act as test beds for new innovations

The Connected Places Catapult is inviting logistics businesses to put themselves forward as potential test beds for new innovations.

The Connected Places Catapult runs the DfT-funded Freight Innovation Fund (FIF). As part of this, the FIF Accelerator sees logistics businesses act as test beds for innovations produced by cutting-edge SMEs, enabling the development of new solutions for the benefit of the logistics sector.

These trials are fully funded by the programme, with logistics business providing a test bed as a benefit in kind, and each successful SME receiving up to £150,000.

The Connected Places Catapult is now developing Cohort 4 of the FIF Accelerator and is hosting a webinar for potential partner logistics businesses on 4 February, 11am to 12pm.

To join the webinar, please sign up here.

Being an FIF Accelerator partner means:

•          Engaging with innovative, market-disrupting technologies.

•          Providing cutting edge SMEs with access to testing environments, data, or other resources to support impactful projects.

•          Mentoring and collaborating with cutting-edge SMEs. During the webinar, the Catapult will cover:

•          Potential logistics challenge areas and opportunities the FIF aims to address in Year 4.

•          The new structure of the Accelerator programme.

•          Next steps for becoming a FIF Accelerator partner.

You can learn more about the programme here:

If you would be interested in being a  FIF Accelerator partner, please do join the webinar by signing up here.

If you have any questions, please email Andrea PĂ©rez Cipollitti, Accelerator Programme Manager at the Connected Places Catapult: Andrea.Pcipollitti@cp.catapult.org.uk

At Logistics UK, we are very keen to support the government-funded FIF, as it supports the development of new solutions for the logistics sector’s challenges and, unlike most government innovation programmes, does not seek match-funding.

We are therefore calling for it to continue to be funded through the upcoming Spending Review.
