Month in the media
The past month has been another extraordinary one for Logistics UK’s media team, which has secured impressive media coverage for the organisation and our members right around the globe, as far afield as Canada, UAE, Australia and Japan, as well as across the UK.
Letter to The Sunday Times
Logistics UK submitted a letter to the Sunday Times outlining our concerns that a no-deal exit could have a significant effect on the price of all imported goods, following an op-ed from Michael Gove. From this, the media team then produced media materials to support the story, and secured more than 200 pieces of coverage, including in the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Mirror, Mail Online, BBC News Online, Daily Express and the Independent. David Wells was also interviewed on Radio 4’s Today Programme, LBC Radio and Jazz FM and the story was also mentioned on Sky News and on all the stations across the BBC Radio Network.
Brexit readiness
To date, Logistics UK’s media team has placed more than 500 pieces of coverage on our concerns regarding the lack of government readiness for the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020. Coverage achieved so far includes print and broadcast stories in The Times, BBC Radio 4, Sky News, Metro, Evening Standard, The Guardian, Mail Online, Telegraph, ITV News and The Independent. Separately, our response to Lord Agnew’s comments on Brexit readiness secured more than 150 pieces of coverage, including Evening Standard, FT, Mail Online, AOL, Yahoo! Irish Examiner and MSN Ireland.
David Wells interview
David Wells was interviewed in depth by Irish transport magazine Export & Freight on Logistics UK’s rebrand, Brexit readiness, economic recovery, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the logistics sector – this was published as a two-page feature in the October issue.
The month ahead
As the countdown to the UK’s departure from the EU continues, Logistics UK’s media team will continue to work with the media to clarify areas of concern for the sector, as well as explaining what new trading processes will mean for businesses and consumers. Support for events such as the Future Logistics Conference and Transport Manager will also feature heavily, as well as promotion of the winners of this year’s Logistics Awards.
