The team at the online bathroom retailer VictoriaPlum.com Ltd was celebrating last year, following its win in the Most Innovative Company of the Year category, sponsored by Siemens Financial Services, at the Logistics Awards 2019. The team from the well-known bathroom brand accepted their trophy from comedian Ed Byrne at the awards ceremony, held in Central London on 24 October 2019.

The company, which is headquartered in Hessle near Hull, is an online-only retailer with no showrooms. Having successfully carved out a niche for itself as an online bathroom specialist, it has helped more than a million customers achieve their dream bathroom since 2001.

To ensure complete customer satisfaction for deliveries, the online retailer introduced a new delivery route planning system at the start of 2018. After the initial launch and extensive testing, the route planning system was expanded to include timeslot selection options and a “track and trace” service which keeps customers informed on delivery whereabouts and timescales. Premium and standard delivery options also improved customer choice. A year-end improvement in TrustPilot scoring for the business has shown that customers appreciate the flexibility and choice which the new system offers.

The board of judges, which represents some of the UK’s most influential logistics businesses, described this work as a: “One-off designed project delivering excellent results.”

David Wells, Chief Executive of Logistics UK, said: “These finalists represent the ‘best of the best’ of our sector; the businesses and individuals determined to keep Britain trading, both at home and overseas. They have been selected for their outstanding commitment, knowledge and expertise, and represent a wide range of UK companies across transport modes and business sectors. With a record number of entrants this year, each shortlisted business had to fight off very tough competition to secure their place in the final line up, and those who scooped the top prizes are truly at the top of their business games. They should be justly proud of the contribution they are making to both the logistics sector and wider UK economy.”
