Transport Manager Conference Series is back for 2021

Logistics UK’s popular Transport Manager conference series – sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres –returns in autumn 2021 with live events planned at 11 venues around the UK. The conferences will highlight key issues for anyone involved in running vehicle fleets, providing professional advice, and helping them remain compliant and up to speed on the latest legislative developments.

VITAL COMPLIANCE UPDATES

Sessions at the series will include Transport Manager Calendar - setting the scene, an essential legislative round up and technical update highlighting the main topics on the horizon that managers need to be aware of, and Logistics UK’s compliance update, a session detailing recent amendments to standards, enforcement of new laws, familiar problems, and new developments on the horizon such as advanced driver assistance systems.

With the Government consulting on the end of sale of new non-zero emission (at the tailpipe) HGVs by 2040, at the latest, the transition to Net Zero will be covered extensively during the series, in addition to logistics in changing urban centres, managing driver wellbeing, and common HGV test failures.

A VIEW FROM THE TRAFFIC COMMISSIONER

Richard Turfitt, the Senior Traffic Commissioner, is the keynote speaker and will be providing an overview of the Traffic Commissioners’ priorities for the next 12 months and detailing the latest action taken on operators at Public Inquiries. He said: The logistics industry has been vital to Great Britain during the pandemic and its ability to operate safely and effectively will be just as important to the national recovery.

“To meet the challenges in a changing industry, it is crucial that transport managers are equipped with the latest information on how to maintain compliance standards and to deliver effective and continuous management of their transport operations.

“The involvement of the traffic commissioners at Logistics UK’s Transport Manager shows the importance, which the regulators place on professional development and that they value the opportunity to engage with the transport managers, who perform such an important role.”

At the Transport Manger in Belfast, David Mullan, the Head of the Transport Regulation Unit will be speaking in place of the Traffic Commissioner.
