Logistics UK’s supportive response to the Government’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan secured more than one hundred pieces of coverage, with our comments published in national titles such as The Independent, The Guardian, Mail Online, and The Daily Telegraph, in addition to influential trade and regional titles, including the Evening Standard. Grant Shapps MP, the Transport Secretary, quoted Logistics UK’s reaction during his interviews on Radio 4 and Sky News.

'PINGDEMIC'

Logistics UK’s press team has already secured extensive coverage of the business group’s response to the ‘pingdemic’ and its calls for Government to grant double-vaccinated, testing-negative logistics workers exemption from isolation if they are contacted by the NHS Covid-19 app. The press team has negotiated broadcast interviews with policy team members on channels including BBC Radio 5 Live, LBC, Sky News, LBC News, BBC Wales, BBC South East, and secured coverage across the nationals in titles such as The Independent, The Guardian and Daily Mail.

At the start of this month, Logistics UK held its Van Driver of the Year competition, its annual search to find the nation’s best van drivers. Coverage of the event was secured across the trade media, in titles including Van Fleetworld, Transport & Logistics, Commercial Fleet, Logistics Voices, UK Haulier, Freight Industry Times, and Warehouse and Logistics News.

HGV DRIVER SHORTAGE

Logistics UK’s press team continues to raise awareness of the challenges its members are facing due to the lack of HGV drivers, and push Government towards a resolution through media pressure. Highlights from the past month include interviews with policy team members placed on Times Radio and Global Radio.

Have you got a story? If you are keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from Brexit readiness to skills shortages, urban restrictions to future logistics – or to shout about some of the great work your organisation is doing, we would love to hear from you.  We are also keen to hear from those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe moving a very unusual load, staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise.  And as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press. Please contact Eleanor, Freya or Rona in the media team at press.office@logistics.org.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!
