A month in the media – February 2024
Logistics UK continued to maintain a high profile in the media during February, with the press office providing comment on a wide variety of issues to ensure its members’ views continue to be represented.
Key topics generating media interest included border checks, attacks on Red Sea shipping, modal shift and the upcoming elections. By establishing and strengthening strong relationships with the media and providing timely responses to issues and announcements, the Logistics UK press office team has ensured the opinions of its members are kept in the headlines.
Between 24 January and 27 February 2024, 139 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for around 846 million people to see Logistics UK’s opinions.

Border checks
Logistics UK’s comments on border checks were published in the print edition of i newspaper and on iNews.co.uk. An interview took place on Bloomberg Radio and the business group’s comments were published on the BBC website and Yahoo! News UK, New Zealand, Australia and Canada, MSN, AOL, and in a variety of trade publications. Logistics UK was also quoted in an article on MSN.com re EU entry/exit system and possible delays at Dover.
Red Sea shipping
Attacks on shipping in the Red Sea continued, and Logistics UK's comments on the effects on European supply chains were included in the print and online editions of the Financial Times, on MSN UK and several other news outlets.
Modal shift
The business group’s comments were included in an article in the Scottish Daily Express regarding the Mode Shift Revenue Support Scheme (MSRS).
Election manifesto
The publication of Logistics UK's manifestos, launched ahead of the general and mayoral elections, has been widely covered in the business, transport and trade media.
The month ahead
Over the next month, the press team will take every opportunity to promote the organisation’s pre-General Election manifesto, aimed at the political parties as they prepare for the next general election, and the regional manifestos which are being launched to coincide with the regional mayoral elections. The team will also continue to share members’ opinions on the introduction of new border checks, as well as reacting to breaking news stories as they unfold. The industry’s ongoing skills shortage will remain a focus as well as continuing promotion of the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity. The team continues preparations for the promotion of Logistics UK’s 2024 events programme.
