A month in the media - November 2024

Another busy month for the Logistics UK press office team has seen it provide comment and opinion to journalists to reflect members’ opinions on a range of key issues during November.

Topics covered have included the Budget, the Lower Thames Crossing, and changes to the Driver CPC. Between 30 October and 26 November 2024, 152 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for over 80 million people to see Logistics UK’s views.

Lower Thames Crossing

Logistics UK took part in an interview on Greatest Hits Radio regarding the Lower Thames Crossing and the business group’s comments were published on the Greatest Hits Radio website.

Driver CPC changes

Logistics UK’s comments were included in around 20 transport and trade publications during November, after Parliament agreed to changes to the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) training requirements.

The month ahead

The media team will continue to raise awareness of members’ opinions on issues affecting the sector, focusing on the industry’s skills shortages, promoting the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity, and highlighting the need for improved driver facilities.

Logistics UK’s 2024 events programme reaches its conclusion in December, in particular the autumn Transport Manager conference series. The winner of the Transport Manager of the Year competition will be announced during the final Transport Manager conference in Birmingham.

The Logistics Awards 2024, which will be held on 12 December, will provide an opportunity to showcase the successes of the logistics industry and those working within it over the past year. If you’re attending the event, make sure you share your photos with us on social media using the hashtag #Logistics24.

Have you got a story?

The team is keen to hear from members moving unusual or particularly topical goods in the run up to Christmas. And do get in touch if you are keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from skills shortages to fuel costs, urban restrictions to future logistics; the team would love to hear from you.

We are also keen to publicise those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise. And as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press.

Please contact the media team at press.office@logistics.org.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!
