Generation Logistics case study: Matteo Longoni, Trainee Logistics Assistant Apprentice, Malcolm Logistics

Matteo wasn’t even aware of the Trainee Logistics Assistant Apprenticeship Scheme when he first applied to work at Malcolm Logistics.

However, after an interview with the Depot Manager for a job in the warehouse, he was put forward for the scheme, where he’s really embraced the learning curve that comes with his new role.

“I like solving problems and helping drivers,” he explains. “I get on with people and have really enjoyed the work, it’s nothing like anything I’ve done before.”

For him, the most challenging aspect has been learning the traffic systems, which takes concentration and precision, but his team help him get the job done.

“I love the atmosphere in the Traffic Office; it’s hard work but we make time for a laugh and we always support each other, we work as a team.”

For Matteo, a career in logistics has had a major impact on his life.

“I’m happier. I’ve got career goals. I can see progression in my future and I’m never bored. My salary is great and, unlike my previous jobs, I’ve now got good earning potential for the future.”
