A Month in the Media for Logistics UK - July 2024

July was a particularly busy month in the Logistics UK press office, thanks to a host of media opportunities including the general election taking place earlier in the month and a new government in place.

To maximise awareness of Logistics UK’s members’ opinions, the press office team continued to provide comment and opinion on the issues of the day.

Key topics generating media interest during the month included border issues, the extension of the DVS grace period and the global CrowdStrike IT outage.

Between 26 June and 23 July 2024, 142 items of editorial were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for over 279 million people to see Logistics UK’s views.

The month ahead

The media team will continue to raise awareness of members’ opinions on issues affecting the sector, in particular following up the industry’s asks of the new government following the general election.

Border issues will continue to be a focus, in particular the introduction of the Border Target Operating Model and the challenges it will present for the industry, as well as the introduction of the EU entry/exit system later in the year.

The team will continue to focus on the skills shortage, promoting the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity, and Logistics UK’s exciting 2024 events programme - which includes the autumn Transport Manager conferences, the Van Awards and the Logistics Awards.

Have you got a story?

If you are keen to speak to the media about a pressing issue – from skills shortages to fuel costs, urban restrictions to future logistics – or to highlight some of the great work your organisation is doing, we would love to hear from you.

We are also keen to hear from those with personal achievements to shout about – maybe moving a very unusual load, staff members who have received special awards or with unusual hobbies or expertise.

And as always, the media is keen to talk to women working across the industry – we are particularly on the lookout for female drivers who are happy to talk to the press.

Please contact the media team at press.office@logistics.org.uk – we look forward to hearing from you!
