WJ Group recognised for emission reduction efforts

Logistics UK announced WJ Group, a leading independent specialist road marking business, as winner of the LERS Leadership in Emissions Reduction 2020 Award at its annual Logistics Awards held virtually on 13 November 2020.

CELEBRATING SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS

The LERS Award, sponsored by ExxonMobil, is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate members of the scheme that are making significant contributions to reduce emissions from their road freight operations and are going above and beyond to mitigate their environmental impact.

CUTTING EMISSIONS FROM VEHICLES AND BUILDINGS

In addition to building its extensive fleet of vehicles in-house which allows continual innovation and the introduction new fuel-efficient vehicles that reduce emissions and save costs, WJ Group also works to reduce emissions in all areas of the company, such as its offices.

GREENING OFFICE SPACE

Measures, such as the inclusion of solar panels in its offices and the conversion of traditional lighting to LEDs, allowed this environmentally conscious company to achieve a 10.1% emission reduction, relative to turnover, in its first year of verification by the Carbon Trust. And, looking to build upon its already impressive reduction plans, WJ Group’s driver league table is expected to result in a further 20% reduction in fuel consumption.

David Wells, Chief Executive at Logistics UK, comments: “WJ Group has shown great efforts to not only reduce emissions across its fleet but to also analyse the changes it could make across the business as a whole. Reducing environmental impact is becoming increasingly important and Logistics UK is proud to recognise companies that are working towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable planet.”
