UK air freight to increase capacity with new Airbus 350s
The UK, along with Australia and the US, is leading the way in transforming long-haul travel and logistics with the arrival of Airbus A350-1000ULR and A350F, which are set to establish new standards for performance, efficiency, and range.
The planes are linking remote markets with greater accuracy and forging the future of air travel and freight. Powered by their innovative abilities, the A350Fs are transforming freight operators allowing them to achieve new feats of nonstop flight and global logistics. On June 13, it was announced that Airbus would begin flight testing for two new variants of its widely popular Airbus A350, a key aircraft in the airline industry’s widebody fleet for over a decade. The A350 has consistently attracted orders from carriers worldwide, serving as the cornerstone of Airbus’s offerings in the long-haul sector.
However, Airbus also has plans to build on the success of the A350 with two new models: the A350F freighter and the A350-1000ULR, each set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of commercial aviation. The A350 continues to boast a strong backlog, with production sold out until at least 2031.
Airbus is preparing to increase production in order to meet the rising demand for the aircraft, with a goal of producing 12 A350s per month by 2028.
Logistics UK's Senior Policy Manager Alexandra Herdman commented: "The biggest word in logistics right now is decarbonisation. By developing these new freighter aircraft, Airbus is supporting the air freight industry in its net zero goals.
"Not only this, but these efficiencies will reduce costs and support furthering trade links and boosting much needed capacity,"
