Policy campaign highlight – decarbonisation roundtable

Calling for a fair transition to a green economy.

Logistics UK continues to press government for action to help the sector decarbonise.

Having already hosted a roundtable earlier in the year on Low Carbon Fuels (LCFs), Logistics UK held a second roundtable on 27 June in Parliament on decarbonising logistics, chaired by Greg Smith MP.

The roundtable was attended by the Chair of the Transport Select Committee, Iain Stewart MP, along with industry representatives spanning road, rail, maritime and aviation.

Following our calls on the government to make progress on the LCFs strategy, Zero Emission Road Freight demonstrator and for a closer partnership on the decarbonisation agenda, Greg Smith MP made the case for low carbon and synthetic fuels in delivering decarbonisation, and the importance of continued engagement with industry to drive the agenda forward.

Logistics UK highlighted that industry is working hard to meet vehicle phase-out dates and emission reduction deadlines. However, the delay to the LCF strategy, continued challenges with electric vehicle infrastructure and lack of progress on zero emission freight trials are inhibiting much needed private sector investment.
