Policy campaign highlight – February 2023

Highlighting a campaign currently being run by Logistics UK's policy team.

NET ZERO REVIEW

Logistics UK continues to support members in their route to net zero. Most recently, the business group submitted its formal response to the Skidmore Net Zero review, a government-commissioned independent review of the UK’s net zero targets and how to get there. Logistics UK has been quoted in the published report and its evidence included, and the review has put forward some positive recommendations for the logistics sector and businesses as a whole.

In particular, Logistics UK is pleased that freight and logistics has been specifically highlighted in the review, including the importance of modal shift, low carbon fuels, and the need for certainty and clarity around policy and planning. The review includes some members’ concerns and Logistics UK’s policy asks to respond to these challenges. The report also highlights the costs of decarbonisation to the economy and businesses.

Inclusion in this review supports Logistics UK’s wider net zero campaign, which includes its policy manifesto with key asks of government, the Route to Net Zero campaign that members can sign up to, and its recent Decarbonisation report.
