Policy Win - UK-EU trade deal

Logistics UK has been calling on government to build on opportunities within the review of the UK EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) due in 2026.

The business group has urged government to reach a deeper trade agreement which addresses logistical, regulatory, and administrative barriers to trade, including a UK EU Veterinary Agreement to significantly reduce barriers and frictions in the movement of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) goods.

Having highlighted the need for this deeper trade agreement via consultation responses to the Border Target Operating Model, the group also emphasised the trade agreement’s importance in letters to ministers, meetings with shadow ministers, as well as in briefings and engagement with MPs and Peers.

Following calls from industry, the Labour Party has publicly confirmed it will use the TCA review to seek to negotiate a deeper trade deal with a new veterinary agreement if in government.
