Policy Win - June 2023

Logistics UK has welcomed the Department for Transport’s decision, following requests over many years, to end the longer semi-trailer trial and to bring these vehicles into general circulation.

This ends the trial that began in 2012 and saw around 3,000 trailers being operated on the road network under certain conditions. Guidance has now been issued for first-time operators and for those who wish to move their vehicles from the trial into circulation. Members who wish to see this are invited to contact the Member Advice Centre (MAC).

Logistics UK has been calling for this change for many years and following the recent decision has been promoting this change in the media, as well as dispelling myths.
