Category B driving licence concession

DfT introduces secondary legislation.

The Department for Transport has laid secondary legislation before parliament on 25 February 2025, which would see the holder of a category B driving entitlement allowed to drive electric vehicles up to 4.25 tonne and would remove the requirement for the five hours of training. It would also allow these vehicles to tow trailers.

Although there is no clear date for the implementation of this legislation, Logistics UK have updated the briefing note on the category B driving licence concession to cover these changes.

The Briefing Note can be downloaded from here.
