Logistics UK launches new emissions data service

Logistics UK, the only business group to represent the whole of the logistics industry, is launching a new service to ensure its members have access to accurate CO2 emissions data.

“Emissions Reporting for Transport” is available to all Logistics UK members and is designed to support their journey to net zero and regulatory compliance, while meeting their customers’ sustainability requirements.

The business group’s members are fully committed to decarbonising, and many are already trialling or have adopted alternative fuels and technologies. Without accurate CO2 emission data, informed decision-making is impossible, so Emissions Reporting for Transport is a strategic tool for managing the journey to net zero.

As more businesses begin reporting their indirect Scope 3 carbon emissions, suppliers will need to be able to provide this information, and often it will be a requirement of doing business. Currently, many smaller suppliers lack capacity or resources to be able to supply this information, but Emissions Reporting for Transport makes this information available in an accessible format.

To offer the new service, Logistics UK has partnered with BearingPoint, an independent management and technology consulting firm. It utilises BearingPoint’s comprehensive carbon management solution providing accurate CO2 emissions data for legislative compliance, internal reporting and target tracking.

"Our members recognise the long-term benefits of carbon reporting and understand the need to measure CO2 emissions to provide trusted records that their decarbonisation plans are effective,” said Al Richardson, Head of Membership & Affinities at Logistics UK.

“We are excited to partner with BearingPoint to offer this valuable service to our members and with the increasing need for accurate carbon footprint calculations, our members will benefit greatly from the detailed emissions reporting provided by BearingPoint's technology."

BearingPoint brings its knowledge, expertise and experience to support the successful delivery of this service to the Logistics UK membership. The partnership aims to create greater transparency in emissions reporting and help logistics companies plan, evaluate, implement and monitor green actions to reduce their environmental impact.

"Creating greater transparency is the key to our approach," said Richard Walters, Senior Manager at BearingPoint. "You cannot manage what you do not measure, and that is where our leading-edge solution comes in. We are proud to support Logistics UK in its mission to improve sustainability in the logistics sector."

The Emissions Reporting for Transport service is available to all Logistics UK members. For more information about the Logistics UK Emissions Reporting for Transport service, please visit: Emissions Reporting for Transport.
