Ask The Mac

With Tom Griffith, Manager of Compliance Information.

Print and be damned

Q. Now DVSA no longer prints certificates for heavy vehicles that pass their annual test, will they print paper certificates if we have any advisories?

A. If the vehicle passes its annual test with advisories, a paper certificate will not be printed unless you specifically request one, with operators being directed to their MOT History Service on gov.uk. Therefore, operators should be aware that there may be issues with the vehicle that need attention, although they did not prevent the vehicle from passing the annual test.

DVSA will only automatically issue paper certificates for vehicles that fail the test.

It's a wrap!

Q. We have recently had a vehicle wrapped in our company colours so were wondering whether we needed to change the V5C document?

A. If the vehicle colour has changed, then the V5C will need to be updated to reflect this. The V5C should also be updated if there were any changes to the engine, cylinder capacity, seating capacity, weight, fuel type, and any replacements or modifications to the chassis.
