DfT - Lowering the minimum age requirement for train drivers from 20 to 18 

Seeks views on lowering the minimum age requirement for train drivers from 20 to 18 to attract new people to the industry. Released 16/05/2024 - closed 13/06/2024. 

Multi Department - Consultation on the introduction of a UK carbon border adjustment mechanism 

Sought views on proposals for the design and administration of the UK carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) from 1 January 2027. Released 21/03/2024 - closed 13/06/2024. 

DfT - Motorcycles in bus lanes 

Sought views on allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes by default. Released 07/03/2024 closed 09/06/2024. 

DfT - Amendments to licensing restrictions: bus, coach and heavy goods vehicles 

Sought views on the amendments to licensing restrictions to address bus, coach and HGV driver shortages. Released 11/04/2024 - closed 05/06/2024.  

 

Announcements, June 2024 

27/06/2024 - DfT - Provisional road traffic estimates, Great Britain: April 2023 to March 2024 

Provisional estimates for road traffic in Great Britain for the year ending March 2024, by vehicle type and road class. 

27/06/2024 - DfT - Travel time measures for the Strategic Road Network and local ‘A’ roads: April 2023 to March 2024 

Congestion on the Strategic Road Network (motorways and ‘A’ roads managed by Highways England), and on locally managed ‘A’ roads for the year ending March 2024. 

27/06/2024 - DESNZ - UK road transport energy consumption at regional and local authority level, 2005 to 2022 

Consumption statistics for fuels used in road transport in the UK at regional and local levels from 2005 to 2022. 

26/06/2024 - DVSA - Leicester Wigston driving test centre: End of temporary relocation 

The temporary relocation of Wigston Driving Test Centre will end on Monday 1 July 2024, a week later than originally planned. Testing will continue at the temporary location until then. 

19/06/2024- DfT - Driver and rider testing and instructor statistics: April 2023 to March 2024 

Driver standards statistics on the numbers and pass rates for driving, riding theory, practical tests and registered driving and riding instructors. 

19/06/2024 - DVSA - Eastbourne Driving Test Centre Relocation 

Following its temporary relocation, Eastbourne driving test centre moved back to its Wartling Road site with effect from Friday 22 June. 

06/06/2024 - DfT - Port freight quarterly statistics: January to March 2024 

Provisional quarterly statistics on freight handled by UK major ports for January to March 2024.
