DfT – The effectiveness and efficiency of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) 

A call for evidence for a review of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Released 28/11/2022 – closes 22/01/2023.  

Welsh Parliament – Electric vehicle charging 

The Climate Change, Environment, and Infrastructure Committee (Welsh Parliament) has launched an inquiry into the Welsh Government's electric vehicle charging strategy. Released 21/11/2022 – closes 14/12/2022.

UK Parliament – Call for written evidence: Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill 

The Bill would completely overhaul a body of UK domestic law known as “retained EU law” (REUL). That body of law was created by the EU (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (EUWA) as amended by the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 (EUWAA) and came into existence at the end of the post-Brexit transition period (ie the end of 2020). Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education – Transport & Logistics route review 

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) launched a major review of transport and logistics skills training and wanted feedback on what is working and what needs to change. Released 22/09/2022 – closed 04/11/2022. 

Welsh Government – Welsh transport appraisal guidance (WelTAG) 2022 

The Welsh Government opened a consultation on proposed revisions to the transport appraisal guidance. Released 11/08/2022 – closed 03/11/2022.

29/11/2022 – DVSA – DVSA services – industrial action by the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) Union   

On 29 November 2022, the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) Union has formally served notice that a programme of industrial action involving DVSA members will take place over a six-week period from Tuesday 13 December 2022. 

29/11/2022 – DfT – Letter from the Secretary of State for Transport to the General Secretary of the RMT 

Letter from the Rt Hon Mark Harper MP to Mick Lynch regarding the industrial dispute on the railways. 

24/11/2022 – HMRC – Check future rates for petrol powered and hybrid powered company cars 

The rates for petrol powered and hybrid powered company cars from the tax year 2025 to 2026 to tax year 2027 to 2028.

24/11/2022 – DfT – Up to £100 million boost to improve HGV roadside facilities 

HGV parking and driver welfare scheme provides match funding to support industry operators to improve HGV facilities. 

23/11/2022 – DVSA – Emergency doors on buses and coaches 

In partnership with the Confederation for Passenger Transport (CPT), DVSA is asking vehicle operators to ensure their drivers are performing checks on emergency doors – so everyone knows the doors are working as they should be. 

22/11/2022 – BEIS – Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill 2022: impact assessment 

Impact assessment relating to the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill. 

21/11/2022 – HMRC – Introduction of Vehicle Excise Duty for zero emission cars, vans and motorcycles from 2025 

This tax information and impact note is about the introduction of Vehicle Excise Duty for zero emission cars, vans and motorcycles from 2025. This will apply to new and existing electric vehicles. 

21/11/2022 – HMRC – Income Tax: Increasing the appropriate percentage for company cars 

This tax information and impact note is about setting the appropriate percentage for company cars for tax years 2025 to 2026, 2026 to 2027 and 2027 to 2028. 

16/11/2022 – DfT – Road goods vehicles travelling to Europe: October 2021 to September 2022 

Number of powered vehicles and unaccompanied trailers carried on each route to Europe from October 2021 to September 2022. 

15/11/2022 – DfT – Cleaner, greener, self-charging trains of tomorrow to revolutionise British rail travel

03/11/2022 – DVSA – Free Rolling Tyres: change to the annual test 

From April 2023, FRTs fitted to front steering axles will be treated as a major deficiency at annual test.

02/11/2022 – DVSA – FAKE Highway Codes are being sold on popular retail websites

01/11/2022 – DVSA – DVSA earned recognition announces Guild of British Coach Operators Module 

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s earned recognition (ER) scheme has launched a new module to help bus and coach operators apply for membership for The Guild of British Coach Operators. 

01/11/2022 – OTC – Advance notice - GOV.UK Verify is closing 

Soon you will not be able to use GOV.UK Verify to produce a signature in the Vehicle Operator Licensing service. You'll need to create a GOV.UK account instead.
