Best Truck Stop of the Year 2026
Professional drivers are the backbone of the UK economy and Logistics UK’s Best Truck Stop of the Year recognises the truck stops that provide drivers with an invaluable and essential service as they keep the economy moving.
Best Truck Stop of the Year 2026
Logistics UK’s search for the Best Truck Stop of the Year 2026 helps recognise the facilities that are delivering for drivers today and we are delighted to confirm Ashford International Truckstop has been crowned the overall winner.
The initiative, which was launched in March, is part of Logistics UK’s ongoing efforts to draw attention to the need to raise the standards of truck stops across the UK roadside network and recognise the critical role they play for the nation’s drivers.
Over 200 nominations were submitted, as HGV drivers around the UK had their say and highlighted the roadside facilities performed best against criteria including security, lighting, food availability and value for money.
Judging panel
Nominations were scrutinised by an expert judging panel, consisting of Logistics UK’s Interim Deputy Director of Policy Maddi Solloway-Price, My Truck Stop Co-Founder and Director Sue Alty and Motorway Buddy Founder Chris Holloway.
The panel shortlisted six truck stops worthy of special attention, from which Ashford International was determined the Overall Winner. The five other shortlisted truck stops were: The Old Fox (Grantham); The Hollies (Cannock), AWJ Penrith (Penrith); Formula – Premier (Ellesmere Port); and Route 74 (Lesmahagow).
Many thanks to everyone who made nominations.
The UK’s HGV fleet is the backbone of the economy:
~300,000 HGV drivers employed in the UK
80% of UK freight traveling on the road network
Road freight and its associated activities account for 18.4% of the £170 billion the logistics sector contributes to the UK economy each year
There is currently a chronic shortage of safe and secure parking for HGV drivers: almost 5,000 of the 21,000 lorries parked overnight close to motorways and major A-roads are forced to use lay-bys or industrial estates because designated lorry parks are full.
Best Truck Stop of the Year 2026 is the opportunity to recognise the truck stops that are going the extra mile today.
Logistics UK is calling for a national review of the availability of rest facilities for logistics workers, and for truck stops to be incorporated into planning frameworks. In addition, there needs to be a specific crime code introduced for freight crime to enable better data collection and appropriate sentencing.
Nominate and win
Everyone who nominated their favourite truck stop was entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a state of the art IROAD Dash Cam FX2 PRO dash cam. Kindly provided by Parksafe Group, and retailing at £185, the dash cam provides Full High Definition 1080p recording at 60fps to ensure exceptionally smooth videos and peace of mind on the road.
