Bridge Strikes - A Waste Sector Best Practice Guide

To support best practice and help raise awareness about this area of road safety, members of Logistics UK’s Waste Forum have collaborated.  Together they have shared their bridge strike events, encounters and learnings to produce this document, allowing other operators to benefit from their experience.

A lot of general bridge strike guidance is already available, rather than focussing on the more general causes, this guide delves deeper into the thinking and actions that cause strikes in terms of both the vehicle and the driver.  The guide utilises operators’ insight gained from managing real life incidents, identifying the most common causes, whilst also providing robust solutions learned from experience that are specific to the waste sector.

Whilst the collaboration is within the waste sector, many of the points are relevant across the whole of the logistics sector.
