The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), EU 2016/679, comes into force 25 May 2018.
The key principles of the current data protection laws remain within the GDPR but with additional regulatory policies that will empower EU citizens to take more control of their own data privacy and also to change the way organisations approach data privacy.
The GDPR applies to the processing of personal data for employees working for a company based in the European Union regardless of whether the activities took place in the European Union or not.
The regulations also apply to the personal data of employees working in the European Union.
