Policy win – Department for Transport ministerial portfolios confirmed

Logistics UK has welcomed the news that the minister will have specific responsibility for freight and borders, since it signals the strategic importance of the logistics sector.

The business group has long been calling for cross-departmental, dedicated logistics and supply chain ministerial representation and raised the ask when engaging with government, speaking at events, sharing manifestos and engaging in policy consultations.

The productivity of the economy and prosperity of the sector are completely intertwined so it is critical that the Minister works with departments across Whitehall to implement an ambitious plan for freight and logistics.

Logistics UK will continue to amplify the message that logistics is critical to the government's growth missions and asks that the new minister prioritises policies that will drive growth across the whole economy by delivering what the sector, and country as a whole, needs on infrastructure, decarbonisation, trade and skills.
