Drones could be the answer to make short routes more efficient

Welch Group and Iona have partnered on utilising drones for logistics, serving remote and low-density delivery routes. The partnership follows a successful trial held in November and signals a shift towards hybrid logistics.

Deploying drones for remote logistics enables Welch Group and Iona to streamline deliveries and address a persistent challenge – the high cost and inefficiency of low-volume, long-distance deliveries.

Through the addition of an aerial layer to existing logistics networks, both companies aim to reduce operational overheads, improve delivery speed and increase reliability for critical shipments such as medical restocks or essential spare parts.
