DfT launches Roads Transport Security Standards

These voluntary standards encompass a practical toolkit, a self-assessment form and best practice links & guidance designed to support transport operators, logistics providers and security managers to better protect their vehicles.

The Standards have been developed to enable companies to comprehensively assess their existing security culture and practice. The standards follow the principles outlined in PAS 29000:2021 – commercially operated vehicles: how to prevent commercial vehicles being used for terrorism and other forms of serious and organised crime. The RTSS is not exhaustive and provides an effective benchmark for companies on security practices.

The RTSS will also be a useful entry point for operators and security managers who are developing their security culture against the threat of terrorism and organised crime groups. The RTSS, together with a toolkit and smart survey, can be accessed via the Gov.UK web page.

Participants who complete the survey will be given feedback from the Road Transport Security Team identifying areas for potential improvement.
