Working for our members: member meetings  

Logistics UK recently held its most recent round of Member Meetings, which give members the opportunity to learn about the latest policies being proposed by UK, regional and local government and their agencies and the implications of these for logistics operations. Most importantly, these meetings give members the opportunity to shape the direction of our policy asks of government and provide attendees with the chance to network with peers in the industry. 

Items on the agenda for this round included penalty and parking charge notices, Road Investment Strategy 3 (RIS3) and infrastructure resilience, as well as future road regulation.  

In addition to covering live consultations and other issues, the meetings present an opportunity for members to directly raise any issues that need attention. These conversations inform our policy work and engagement in our Member Meetings is vital to ensure the organisation can represent the views of our industry accurately in discussions with parliamentarians and other legislators. Meetings also covered regional and devolved updates, to ensure members are up to date on localised updates as well as national news.   

As well as bringing members together, we often have guest speakers which allows members the opportunity to ask questions directly to those in positions of authority, as well as giving leaders and policy makers the chance to understand the challenges faced on the ground by logistics businesses. For the latest meeting round, speakers included Victoria Davies, Welsh Traffic Commissioner, Kellie McNamara from The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, Victoria Jenkins and Simon Black from the DVLA, as well as Caroline Russell AM from the London Assembly.  

The Logistics UK Member Advice Centre (MAC) also presented on the most common type of queries they handle as well as sharing an update on upcoming legislative changes, letting operators know what to do to remain compliant, as well as the Policy Insight Team, who shared the latest member survey results and findings from the Compliance Report.  

Our next round of Member Meetings will run in January and February 2026 and I really encourage anyone who has not come along before to join us – they are vital in shaping our policy proposals. With various policy changes on the horizon, next year some of the themes and topics we expect to cover include automated vehicles, decarbonisation and road regulation. 

In addition to the Member Meetings, Logistics UK also hosts a set of working groups which discuss specific specialist topics, such decarbonisation, customs and trade, or employment and skills.
