From Newquay to Knutsford – electric van exceeds official efficiency ratings
The vans, which were driven by journalists and fleet managers, covered an average of 1,043 miles each on a route that started in Newquay, Cornwall and finished in Knutsford, Cheshire.
The journey featured motorways, trunk roads (typically connecting two cities), rural and urban routes across Dorset, Hampshire, Kent, the East Midlands, Suffolk, the West Midlands and the Peak District.
Independent telematics monitoring showed the largest variant, the L3H3 with a 106kWh battery, achieved 2.402 miles per kWh, exceeding its official WLTP efficiency rating by 9.7%. The L2H2 variant with an 83kWh battery exceeded its rating by 1.5%, while the L1H1 model performed within 7.25% of its official figures.
The results were recorded despite the vans carrying significant loads throughout the rally. One vehicle powered a refrigerator continuously using the SV’s 3.3kW vehicle-to-load sockets, another carried a Sortimo racking system, and a third transported event equipment. All vans carried participants’ luggage and accommodated two or three people throughout the test period.
The Farizon SV is designed as a purpose-built electric van targeting efficiency in the 3.5-tonne category.
