A month in the media – May 2025

By building and maintaining strong relationships with the media, and providing timely responses to issues, the team has generated significant coverage on topics affecting the logistics industry, including the EU/UK trade deal, the possible impact of the EU Deforestation Regulation on supply chains, and the Silvertown Tunnel.

Between 23 April and 27 May 2025, 174 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for over 246 million people to see or hear Logistics UK’s point of view.

Logistics UK’s comments on the opening of the Silvertown Tunnel were published on the GB News, Birmingham Live and Bristol Live websites.

EU Deforestation Regulation

Coverage was achieved for Logistics UK’s comments in a Daily Telegraph article on the EU Deforestation Regulation and the disruption it could cause to complex global supply chains.

EU/UK trade deal

Following the EU/UK trade deal announcement, an interview took place on the LBC News breakfast show and the item was repeated on LBC’s news bulletins.

The month ahead 

The media team will continue to raise awareness of members’ opinions on issues affecting the sector, including decarbonisation, trade and border issues. The team will continue to focus on the industry’s skills shortages, promoting the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity and highlighting the need for improved driver facilities. Plans are under way for the promotion of Logistics UK’s exciting 2025 events programme, including Fleet Engineer, the Logistics UK Annual Conference – a new flagship event taking place in London on 4 June – and Transport Manager 2025.
