Policy win February 2025 – Mode Shift Revenue Support and Waterborne Freight Grant schemes extended

Responding to the consultation when live, Logistics UK highlighted that mode shift grants have been instrumental in facilitating the transfer of freight from road to alternative transportation modes, particularly rail. The business group highlighted how these grants play a critical role in addressing key environmental and infrastructure challenges by reducing road congestion, decreasing carbon emissions and creating a more sustainable freight network. 

Logistics UK emphasised that the potential impact of removing these grants cannot be understated, as it would likely result in a significant increase in road freight, with consequential negative effects on air quality, transportation efficiency and broader economic dynamics.

Logistics UK will continue to outline the benefits of modal shift as part of the UK logistics network.
